The Tulane National Primate Research Center is one of eight centers that make up the National Primate Research Center Program funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH). The primary areas of research today at the TNPRC are infectious diseases, including biodefense-related work and Regenerative Medicine. Research at the Tulane National Primate Research Center is focused on human health problems that require the use of nonhuman primates to understand the disease. This forms the basis of efforts to develop diagnostics, therapeutics and preventive strategies such as vaccines. With over 260 employees the TNPRC is a leading regional research center.
